This is a special scarf part of the “Anadromi” collection that is an ode to Avgousta’s island of origin, Cyprus. In  this collection, Avgousta creates geometrical motifs that have as structural elements the contour shapes of the two parts of Cyprus, the free and the occupied one (a result of the Turkish invasion in 1974 that lasts to date), as well as the shape of the whole island. The message is against any type of division or occupation, and the urgent need for peace. This specific design is composed by only the free part of Cyprus.

This particular design, inspired by the theme of occupation, features a pattern composed of the Occupied and the Free part of Cyprus. The arrangement within the scarf’s design creates a unique flower that symbolizes hope, conveying an optimistic message of freedom.

The petals forming the outer structure of the flowers are derived from the Free part of Cyprus, depicted in a light color. At the heart of the flowers lies the Occupied part, represented in black – smaller in size, melancholic, symbolizing the passing years, as the issue of occupation fades into the background, remaining unresolved.

The elements of the flower unite and bloom, reminding everyone that only together can they exist, bringing life, and hope to the garden.
